I am a huge fan of the process of filmmaking. During my Film School Days I was deprived of the 'DVD' and the 'Bonus Feature'. There at the end of my stint studios begin adding insight on how they made the film. Generous filmmakers, usually independents would share tricks of the trade with hungry nerds like myself. As the DVD progressed, there were double discs, triple discs.... I mean everything and I came to find out that many other people outside the film geek squad enjoyed that kind of crap as well. For years, I drew in journals, notebooks, and sketch pads. With the boom of video, blogs, and sites like deviantart.com, I've found that it is a beautiful impromptu tool to document my process. Unfortunately, I have refused to leave the art of scribing so I have started doubling my work, by writing in a journal and copying to the HTML. The one good thing I can say, is sometimes, if needs be, I can sit down and just type it, then print it, put it in a binder and I get my bullshit with all the colorful pictures. Anyway, I love the storyboard. I love the concept drawings. They are a key role in filmmaking and I beat myself to death, because I'm a broke filmmaker and am forced to sketch all that stuff myself. Here is some of that art.

THE FIRST ILL FATED SKETCH THAT I NEVER FINISHED.

THE FIRST ILL FATED STORYBOARD OF THE SECOND SHOT OF THE FILM, I DID IN ILLUSTRATOR. (STILL LEARNING IT, OBVIOUSLY.) THE COLOR VOMIT BEHIND HIS HEAD WAS SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE A OUT OF FOCUS GLARE OF THE CITY STREET. THE HUH, HUH'S ARE HIM PANTING FROM BEING OUT OF BREATH.

AGAIN.... THIS IS THE FIRST SHOT OF THE FILM. HE PACES DOWN THE SIDEWALK.

I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET FURNITURE COMPANIES TO DONATE SCRAP LUMBER TO ME TO CONSTRUCT THE NEWSPAPER STAND THAT IS IMPERATIVE TO THE FILM. THIS IS THE SCHEMATIC I HAVE BEEN FAXING THEM ALL OF WHAT I NEED.

NOW I'M GETTING A LITTLE BETTER WITH THE ILLUSTRATOR. THIS IS A CONCEPT DRAWING OF HOW I NEED THE NEWSPAPER STAND TO LOOK.
