During his term at Lenoir-Rhyne College, Freddy began acting in theatre productions after being introduced by Mr. Donegan Smith, former Professor and Professional actor for stage and film. After his performance and portrayal of the Shakespeare play Othello, Freddy won the Sam Baker Award/Scholarship for Best Actor. This show also included LR Grad and actor Mark Alton Rose who played Iago. Following his theatre experiences, Freddy would then take a screenwriting course as his passion for film grew. Freddy Graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Arts in May of 1999.
After graduating from Lenoir-Rhyne, Freddy decided to get into film acting and began meeting A list actors on several different film sets as an extra. It was then that Freddy began to network and seek advice from many of Hollywood’s finest, and shortly after landed the role of Riley in the Christian film Late One Night, where he met actor Hugh McClean is cast as Pastor Frank, the blind wisdom-filled preacher in The Tag Along. Shortly after being cast in Late One Night, actor/producer Eric Holloway offered the role of Quash to Freddy in The Last Confederate: The Story of Robert Adams. It was on this set that Freddy had the opportunity to showcase his screenwriting talents, and re-write scenes for legendary actor Mickey Rooney. The day on the set was hectic, and the producer needed somebody to re-write and edit a few scenes for Mr. Rooney. So, Freddy accepted the challenge and re-wrote the scenes. After re-writing the scenes, they were passed onto Mr. Rooney who was well-pleased with the scenes and Freddy’s ability to do a fine job under pressure. Mr. Rooney replied by saying “Quash, now a lot things make sense. You’re pretty sharp.” It was then that Freddy was not only validated as a writer, but he also realized that he had what it took to be successful in the film business.
Aside from acting, Freddy spends a great deal of time writing screenplays for which he has a
screenwriting agent in New York, as well as an acting agent in Los Angeles, and a manager in Hickory, North Carolina where he resides.
